Solo Traveler // San Francisco Budget Traveling

Hello there Pretty Faces.

I have been back from my first Solo Travel for over 3 weeks now, but due to health issues I am only sharing this post now. But...  IT WAS AMAZING!!! Just so you know.

Looking for some budget friendly tips and ideas? Well... wait no longer as I am going to share with you.

Everyone knows I am an Au Pair/Au Poor so money is not on my side but with that being said I love the finer things in life, which includes TRAVELING. Okay, I am going to stop blabbing and start sharing.

So I booked a flight through Alaska. What I used to book a flight is Google Flights as it had the best prices available for me. But I also use Hopper to find cheap flights that fit my budget.

Public transport was my best friend in San Fran and let me tell you it's not even expensive. I used the app Muni App and bought a one day pass for $20 and with that I had acces to any public transport that was under Muni for the day. But the following day I ended up using cash and it worked me out so much cheaper than using the Muni App. So my personal advice is to rather use cash than the app if you only spending a weekend there.

Traveling on a budget doesn't mean you need to live like a hobo. I stayed at The Adelaide Hostel and it was amazing. The hostel is very close to Union Square and to all public transport. It super affordable and its clean and the staff there are AMAZING. If you ever looking for a hostel to stay in, I would recommend The Adelaide.

I went to all of the places I personally wanted to visit, including The Painted Ladies. My suggestion would be to plan out you itinerary and know where you want to go. This will spare you so much time and money and stress. There are free tours that are offered around Union Square that I think could be useful if you don't really have anything planned.

Stay tuned for pictures and more travel diaries on San Francisco.

Traveling alone is the single best gift you can give yourself!

Au Pair Diaries//Being Sick and Not Knowing It

If you have been following me on social media, you would know that I was in the hospital for a total of 6 days. This post in not a post to feel sorry for me, or me looking for attention. No it is an awareness post. A post that hopefully will help someone out there and touch them.

I am 24 years old, which means that; I should be living my life, be in top shape, always face the world with a big smile and NOT END UP IN HOSPITAL! Or so I thought.

As I am writing this post, I am slowly, but surely, coming to terms that it happened to me. That I am not made of sugar, spice and everything nice. That at the end I am not perfect and that it was about time for me to go through this. My host dad said: "You are young, they can fix it". Which is true, but terrifying, it was not part of MY plan. But with everything that happened; I am reminded that God's plan is bigger then my plan and that I serve a Mighty God.

8th November 2017, the day I would love to forget but can't. During that day I was not feeling well and the evening I though: "I could sleep it off". But I couldn't. When I opened my bedroom door; I collapsed and started throwing up blood, because this time I could not sleep it off! It was time to face it. I was rushed to the ER and that is where MY world came to a stand still and started crumbling down. My blood count was 4.5, my iron was low, my esophagus was more narrow then I could've ever imagined and there was a possibility that I had internal bleeding.

What Was Wrong?

Upon arrival test were run and it was determined that I had a blood count of 4.5 WTF right? Because an average woman has a count of 12 so immediately I received a blood transfusion. 3 pints of blood that evening. Then they ran a stool test (eeuw) and they found traces of blood. Which meant I had internal bleeding. (As I heard all this, tears were running down my cheeks). But for them to determine if I really had internal bleeding they had to scope me. News flash: Gu-wee has a narrow throat (which I have been mentioning every time. Since I eat super slow) So they were unable to get the scope down my throat. Best part is they even tried the pediatric scope and still was unable to go down. But it had to be done so that I could know what is going on. On top of all this I am anemic and iron deficient. I received an iron drip that would be good for the next 6 months.

Next Step

Due to Mission Hospital being unable to scope me, I had to go to UC Irvine Hospital. Where I spent 5 days in the hospital to see the GI, because I didn't want to know what was wrong but needed to know. Let me just say those 5 days were not fun. As it was the weekend of Vetrans day, I was in the ER for 6 hours before getting a room. Then I spent the whole Saturday waiting for the GI, where he never showed up. Finally he came on Sunday and I was supposed to do te procedure on Monday. At 18:00pm, Monday evening, I was told that they couldn't do it. It had to be Tuesday. I was not happy as I didn't want to spend another night in THAT hospital! Tuesday came it was done (after some words were exchanged). It was then determined that I had ulcers around my intestines and that it was the cause for my internal bleeding.

Recovering and Medication

At this very moment, more then a week later I am discharged but my struggles are not over yet. I need to get my prescription for my internal bleeding but I am unable to afford it because it's $400+. In Au Pair language that is a big NO NO because I don't even make that much in a week (its okay, you can pick up your jaw). But I need it the medication to get better. And I have been out of the hospital for 5 days and still don't have my medication. The joys of being an Au Poor. My medical aid doesn't cover it so what now?

I don't know what I am going to do, but this I know is that I need it to get better and start living the life God wants me to live. Because guess what? God is not done with me.

Health is a crown that the healthy wear, but only the sick can see it

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick//Influenster

Hey Pretty Face so if you know me, you would know I am a budget queen and I love me some good lippies. For the month of October I received my VoxBox from Influenster. For those who don't know Influenster, don't worry, Gu-wee's got your back.

Influenster is the best thing since sliced bread. You register on the website and then there are some task that you will need to complete. While doing that you might get chosen for a VoxBox. Now a VoxBox is where you get products to sample and give your HONEST opinion and you get to keep it. Can I get a whoop whoop. PS. signing up is totally free. So what are you waiting for?

But now that you know what its all about, let's get into my VoxBox that I received this month. This month I received my free VoxBox from Maybelline. I was asked to try their new Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick. I was very excited to try it, as I love a good matte and on top of that it is Metallic!

Colours that I was asked to try out were: 970 - Molten Bronze and 978 - Smoked silver. I did swatches on my arm. The colours looked amazing on my skin, the Metallic was a good add.

But I never wiped off the lipstick from my arm and I kid you not, in less then an hour it was gone. I was only left with shimmers on my arm. So that already kinda put me off as I love a long lasting matte lipstick.

I used it on my lips and it most definitely didn't feel like a matte lipstick. It was a lipstick with shimmer. Feel free to go and check out the small video I did on Instagram. Disclaimer I received this product free so that I could test it and give my honest opinion.

Would I buy Matte Metallics? Uhm that is an easy no. But would I buy Maybelline again? Yes indeed. One of my favourite nude matte lipstick is from Maybelline.

If you received a VoxBox, please do share what you received and what you thoughts are.

It's not "just" Lipstick... It's SELF CONFEDENCE!
